Née Danse/Theatre

In Recognition of Your Important Role in Our Work

Née Danse/Theatre has always been dedicated to presenting relevant, meaningful work that gives voice to the stories that lie beneath the surface. In 2019, we honored that dedication with the development and showings of Holding One’s Own: Stories about Living with Breast Cancer.

With the assistance from our generous donors and supporters, we:

Hosted Story Circles in April & May, and collected stories from women living with breast cancer.

Presented our first “work-in-progress” in June at the Clifton Heights United Methodist Church, as part of the Philadelphia SoLow Festival

Created a fully-developed production of Holding One’s Own in November during an 8-day residency at the Dragon’s Egg Studio (CT) with five performing artists

Presented Holding One’s Own at the Dragon’s Egg Studio and the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center (CT)

In an extremely brief creative period with an equally limited budget, we produced a work that has resonated deeply with a wide spectrum of audience members.

As with any group of women sharing their experiences, razor-sharp wit and dark, painful jokes emerged. - Erin Dohony, Broad Street Review

In June 2020, Holding One’s Own: Stories about Living with Breast Cancer will be given a full theatrical production at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. We hope you will continue to support this culturally-responsive program, and consider making an end-of-the-year donation.

We give thanks for your ongoing support of our dedication to presenting relevant, meaningful work that gives voice to the stories that lie just beneath the surface.

Peace in the New Year,
